AFGE Secretary Donnell Owens Pleads Guilty to Embezzlement

Donnell Owens is a former union boss for the AFGE Union in Washington, DC. On September 28, 2021, he was charged with embezzlement – having allegedly embezzled $275,524 from the union. Then on October 20, 2021, he pleaded guilty to the horrendous act. This plea means he admits to stealing over a quarter million dollars from union funds. That’s a quarter million dollars that was collected from innocent workers and union members by the union. You can read more about the charge here.

On October 20, 2021, in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, Donnell Owens, former Secretary to the Communications Director of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) National Union (located in Washington, D.C.), pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement from a labor organization for embezzling $275,524 from the union, in violation of 29 U.S.C. 501(c). The guilty plea follows an investigation by the OLMS Washington District Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
