Burlison: Right to Work would help lure Boeing

Assemblyman Eric Bulison is ready to introduce a Right to Work law in the Missouri Assembly in the next session.  Jonathan Shoreman has the story in the News-Leader.

Springfield lawmaker Eric Burlison has been trying to get so-called Right to Work legislation passed for years and is now tying his argument for the bill to Missouri’s bid for Boeing.

“We are fooling ourselves if we think just throwing money at Boeing is going to bring production of the 777x to Missouri. Boeing walked away from a $8.7 billion incentive package that Washington offered as consolation for the state’s anti-competitive labor laws,†Burlison said. “The governor is wasting the taxpayers’ time and money by calling for a special session that excludes the possibility of labor reform.â€

There is some renewed interest in Right to Work in 2014. In August, Republican Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder predicted the legislature will put Right to Work to a statewide vote of the people.
