Donald Dougherty of IBEW Union Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison

Donald Dougherty was the owner of Dougherty Electric Company. He was also an employer for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 98 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Back in January of 2021, he pleaded guilty to filing false federal income taxes and also stealing from employee benefit plans. You can read more about the guilty plea here. Then on May 19th, he faced his sentencing. Donald Dougherty must now serve two years in prison for his crimes. In addition, he will also have to pay back $358,913 in restitution as well as pay a $125,000 fine.

In the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Donald “Gus†Dougherty […] was sentenced to two years in prison. Dougherty was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $358,913 and a $125,000 fine. […] The sentencing follows an investigation by the OLMS Philadelphia-Pittsburgh Office, Department of Labor’s Office of Inspector General, the Employee Benefits Security Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Internal Revenue Service.
