On August 13, 2021, the former Financial Secretary for the United Steelworkers Local 5632 pleaded guilty to crimes. The name of this person is Peter Burns, and after an investigation, it was found that he allegedly embezzled a total of $1,137. This money was taken from the union’s funds, which were collected from working members of the union through forced dues. These dues are supposed to go toward bettering the workplace and benefitting the workers. Yet time and time again, we see that it ends up in the wrong hands, as is the case with Mr. Burns. By passing Right to Work laws in every state, we can put an end to union corruption and give workers what they need and deserve.

From the Department of Labor:

In the United States District Court for the Central District of California, Peter Burns […] pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement of union funds in the amount of $1,137, in violation of 29 U.S.C. 501(c). The guilty plea follows an investigation by the OLMS Los Angeles District Office.
