Postal Mail Handlers Boss Yvette Luster Sentenced to Prison

Yvette Luster is now the former treasurer of the Postal Mail Handlers Local 314 in Hazelwood, Missouri. Back in June of 2021, she pleaded guilty to embezzling money from the union’s coffers. You can read more about the guilty plea here. Then on September 21, 2021, she faced he final sentencing for her crimes. Yvette Luster must now serve 18 months of prison plus three years of probation afterward. In addition, she must also play $184,138 in restitution and a $100 special assessment.

In the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, Yvette Luster, former Treasurer of Postal Mail Handlers Local 314 (located in Hazelwood, Mo.), was sentenced to 18 months of prison and three years of probation. Luster was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $184,138 and a $100 special assessment. On June 22, 2021, Luster pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement and theft of labor union assets, in violation of 29 U.S.C. 501(c). The sentencing follows an investigation by the OLMS Denver-St. Louis District Office.DEPARTMENT OF LABOR
