Union Boss John Sammons Faces Punishment For Crimes

On February 1st, 2021, the former president of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) in South Carolina, John Sammons, received his official sentencing. After pleading guilty to theft earlier on, his punishments now include supervised probation, home incarceration, and paying back more fines.

From the Department of Labor:

John Sammons […] was sentenced to three years of supervised probation, including six months of home incarceration, and he was ordered to pay a $5,500 fine. Sammons previously paid $17,261 in restitution. On February 28, 2020, Sammons pleaded guilty to one count of theft, in excess of $1,000, within a special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States, in violation of 18 U.S.C. 661. The sentencing follows an investigation by the OLMS Atlanta-Nashville District Office.DEPARTMENT OF LABOR
