US DOL Investigation Leads to Union-Related Criminal Charges

David Scofield, once the financial secretary for the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen Local Lodge 21, has been charged with and pleaded guilty to the following: one count of embezzling union funds, four counts of bank fraud, and one count of falsifying a union financial report.

On November 24, 2025, in the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri, David Scofield, former Financial Secretary of Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen Local Lodge 21 (located in Olathe, Kans.), was charged in an information with one count of embezzling union funds in the amount of $54,412, four counts of bank fraud, and one count of falsifying a union financial report, in violation of 29 U.S.C. 501(c), 18 U.S.C. 1344, and 29 U.S.C. 439(b), respectively. Scofield then pleaded guilty to the charges. The charges and guilty plea follow an investigation by the OLMS Denver-St. Louis District Office.
