Ohio Teachers File Class-Action to Halt Compulsory Union Dues for Political
Activism

Columbus, Ohio (August 5, 2011) – With free legal
assistance from the National Right to Work Foundation, 15 public school teachers
across the state filed a federal class-action lawsuit against the Ohio Education
Association (OEA) and nine of its regional affiliates for violating their
rights.


Ephrata workers sue again on union dues

According to the National Right to Work Legal Defense
Foundation, which provided free help to the employees, two U.S. Supreme Court
rulings support the employees’ stand.

Public employees who are represented by a union, but not
members, can be forced to pay some union dues, the high court has ruled,
according to the foundation.

November, said Peter Davis, general counsel for the Wisconsin Employment
Relations Commission. State and local government union leaders say they probably
won’t seek state certification.

Voters were handed a ticket for the barbecue dinner and a
raffle ticket after they signed in to the event. At some point each voter was
asked to board a van with the organization’s logo emblazoned on the side. The
vans ran round-trip transportation between the neighborhood party and Milwaukee
City Hall, where there is an early voting location.
