AFGE President Marie Hopson Must Pay for Crimes
Marie Hopson, President of AFGE Local 2883, pleaded guilty after being charged with making a false official certificate or writing. Now, Hopson must serve a year of probation and serve 50 hours of community service.

On November 4, 2025, in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, Marie Hopson, former President of American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) Local 2883 (located in Atlanta, Ga.), was charged in an information with one count of making a false official certificate or writing, in violation of 18 U.S.C. 1018. Hopson then pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to one year probation and 50 hours of community service. Hopson was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $10,836. The charge, guilty plea, and sentencing follow an investigation by the Atlanta-Nashville District Office.
