APWU Union Boss Kathleen Kaplan Sent to Prison
Kathleen Kaplan, Secretary-Treasurer of APWU Local 7136, is set to spend over a year in prison after pleading no contest to grand theft and fraudulent use of personal ID information.

On November 24, 2025, in the Circuit Court of Manatee County, Florida, Kathleen Kaplan former Secretary-Treasurer of American Postal Workers Union (APWU) Local 7136 (located in Tallevast, Fla.), was sentenced to 366 days in state prison, 120 months of community control, and 323 months of probation. Kaplan was also ordered to pay $230,000 in restitution. On September 15, 2025, Kaplan pleaded nolo contendere to one count of grand theft first degree ($100,000 or more) and one count of fraudulent use of personal identification information over $50,000, in violation of 812.014(2a) and 817.568(2c) of the Florida Statutes. The sentencing follows an investigation by the OLMS Atlanta-Nashville District Office and the Manatee County, Florida Sheriff’s Office.
