USW President Michael Evanovich Sentenced After Admitting to Crimes

Michael Evanovich, President of USW Local 1219, has been sentenced to two years of probation after pleading guilty to embezzlement. These events follow Evonovich’s previous indictment, which you can read about here.

From the Department of Labor:

On September 5, 2025, in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, Michael Evanovich, former President of United Steelworkers (USW) Local 1219 (located in Braddock, Pa.), pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement of labor union assets, in violation of 29 U.S.C. 501(c). He was then sentenced to 24 months of probation. Evanovich was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $9,709, a fine of $5,000, and a $100 special assessment. The guilty plea and sentencing follow an investigation by the OLMS Philadelphia-Pittsburgh District Office.
