Foundation Case Involves Illinois Workers

Union officials called a strike.  There were men who just wanted to work, and for them, the strike fines became even more expensive than honoring the picket line.
Now, with free confidential legal aid from the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation, these men are fighting union officials for thousands and thousands in illegal fees.  Alejandra Cancino has the story in the Chicago Tribune.

A group of Caterpillar workers in Joliet have resigned from their union, vowing to fight fines as high as $30,000 for crossing the picket line during an ill-fated strike last summer against the heavy-equipment maker.

“I believe that this is going to lead to a vote from the union membership to have an open shop,” said Steven Olson, one of two men who dodged union-imposed fines after filing charges with the National Labor Relations Board. “I’m not going to spearhead this, but there is a number of people disgusted with the union.”
