Introductory Letter

Dear Student:

The purpose of this National Institute for Labor Relations Research scholarship is to enlighten future educators to a challenge which is rarely mentioned in teacher education textbooks. This challenge is to make an informed decision as to whether joining a teacher union is right for you.

Awards are given in large part on the basis of your essay. A winning essay will be factual and well-written. While there is basic information on this web site, it is important that your essay express your own thoughts on the subject.

This application may be downloaded directly from this website. To have an application mailed to you, please email us at , specify which scholarship you are interested in, and include your complete mailing address. A complete application will include all forms listed on the last page of this application form. Incomplete applications will not be returned or accepted for competition.

Complete applications will be accepted from October 1 until December 31 of the current calendar year and must be postmarked by December 31 in order to be eligible.

Requests for applications will be sent via regular mail until December 15 and canot be requested after that date.
