AFSCME Union President Shukimba Carlis Pleads Guilty to Crime

US DOL Investigation Update

AFSCME Local 2620 President Shukimba Carlis was investigated for wire fraud and pleaded guilty. This is just one more guilty plea from another guilty union boss.

From Department of Labor:

On April 10, 2026, in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division – Los Angeles, Shukimba Carlis, former President of American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 2620 (located in Burbank, Calif.), pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud, in violation of 18 U.S.C. 1343. The guilty plea follows an investigation by the OLMS Los Angeles District Office and the Department of Laborโ€™s Office of Inspector General.
