It’s odd that the Journal Sentinel’s report, “Woman charged
with email threats,” fails to note Windels claims to be an early childhood
educator at Head Start. I eagerly await the next Paul Krugman column denouncing
Democrats for inciting teachers and other public employees.

“Now it’s Tennessee’s turn,†the state’s GOP lieutenant
governor, Ron Ramsey, said in a recent letter on his Facebook page. Citing Ohio
and Wisconsin, he urged support for legislation that would “prevent government
employee unions from locking taxpayers into long-term union contracts that we
cannot afford.

The membership figures are consistent with the latest
employment data (see story in Section D), which show that 697,000 workers were
employed in motor vehicle parts manufacturing in March, up from 664,400 a year
earlier—a sign the auto industry finally is rebounding from a deep slump. In
recent years, UAW also has diversified its membership by organizing workers in
the gaming, academic, and health care sectors. It currently is eyeing employees
of the foreign-owned automakers and parts suppliers, which generally have
remained

nonunion.
