Hasan Zahdeh, Union Boss, Sentenced to Prison For Crimes

Hasan Zahdeh was the President of the Michigan Union of Healthcare Workers in Muskegon, Michigan. After pleading guilty to embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars, he must now serve a hefty sentence. On September 3, 2021, he received his official sentencing. The former union boss must now serve 14 month in prison, then serve three years of supervised release. He must also pay restitution for all the money that was taken from union funds and pay a special assessment fee.

From the Department of Labor:

Hasan Zahdeh […] was sentenced to 14 months of imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $140,498 in restitution and a $100 special assessment. On April 13, 2021, Zahdeh pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement of union funds, in violation of 29 U.S.C. 501(c). The sentencing follows an investigation by the OLMS Minneapolis Resident Investigator Office.
