No recommendation made on Wisconsin recall challenges

The recalls target Sens. Jim Holperin of Conover, Robert
Wirch of Pleasant Prairie and Dave Hansen of Green Bay.

Democrats filed challenges against all three petitions,
alleging circulators employed widespread fraud in collecting the signatures.
Those pushing for the recalls say the challenges will fail and the delay is
politically motivated.


Prison Guards Union Locks Up Benefits, Politicians, People

Montgomery judge invalidates part of collective bargaining law

Union leaders had argued that County Executive Isiah
Leggett broke the law by disregarding the results of collective bargaining when
he proposed a budget in March.

Leggett has maintained that he — not an arbitrator — has
the discretion to propose a spending plan that is in the public interest. The
county’s charter, generally considered its constitution, gives him that nearly
unfettered authority, Leggett says.
