Labor Plans Mobilization Over Jobs During August Congressional Recess

In a conference call with reporters, Trumka said that
between now and Labor Day, union members and their allies will participate in
more than 450 events across the country to “hold politicians accountable.â€

Trumka said it is time for President Obama and lawmakers to
push strong measures for a recovery, regardless of the Tea Party Republicans,
who are “hell bent on a political agenda†to make government dysfunctional in
order to tear government down.


Teachers sue union, saying fee is political

The Virginia-based National Right to Work Legal Defense
Foundation, which is providing the teachers legal assistance, says, “Under the
First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, nonmember teachers cannot be forced to
pay dues or fees for union boss politics and other nonbargaining activities.â€


Anti-union group sues state’s largest teachers union

Cincinnati.com, 8/05/2011

A lawsuit filed by 15 teachers from around the state
challenges one of the state’s largest teachers unions about how it uses money
collected from non-union members.
