LANSING, Mich.—The Michigan Court of Appeals ruled Aug. 25
that a law requiring public employees to contribute 3 percent of their wages to
a retirement fund is unconstitutional (AFSCME Council 25 v. State Emps. Ret.
Sys., Mich. Ct. App., No. 302959, 8/25/11).

Labor Dept. power grab rewards Obama’s union allies

The Washington Post takes Obama’s Labor Department to task
for deciding “with a stroke of a bureaucrat’s pen” to reward unions while
imposing crippling costs on everyone else. The issue involves one of unions’
favorite pieces of legislation: The Davis-Bacon Act.
