Ever since the first state Right to Work laws were enacted back in the 1940’s, the share of total U.S. manufacturing employment located in such states has been consistently rising.
“Every delay in naming and confirming qualified nominees to the NLRB and Labor Department is a concern,” National Right to Work Committee spokesman Patrick Semmens told the Washington Free Beacon on Monday. “Overturning the Obama administration’s pro-forced unionism policies is more like turning a supertanker than pressing a button, but that needed course adjustment cannot even begin until the vacancies begin to be filled.”
Plaintiffs in the lawsuit – represented by attorneys from the National Right to Work Foundation and the Freedom Foundation – include a handful of drivers who don’t meet that criteria, the lawsuit says, arguing that they will have “no voice” in decisions to unionize.
In the span of a month, two local hospitals have stopped negotiating with Service Employees International Union Local 1107.
“Unfortunately, SEIU officials has been actively opposing their right to remove the union, blocking even an attempt to hold a secret ballot decertification vote,” Semmens wrote. “Instead of attacking nurses who turn to the National Right to Work Foundation for assistance in exercising their rights, perhaps SEIU union bosses should instead ask themselves why so many nurse don’t want the (SEIU)’s ‘representation’ in their workplace.”
The Freedom Foundation and the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation have now joined hand-in-hand in filing a federal lawsuit on behalf of Uber and Lyft drivers in Washington State.
Since enacting Right to Work in March 2013, for instance, Michigan has seen faster jobs and income growth than Illinois, which lacks Right-to-Work legislation. According to a 2016 Chief Executive Magazine survey, nine of the 10 best states for business had Right-to-Work laws.
DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL – A legislative committee once again killed a bill Wednesday aimed at turning Colorado into a “right-to-work” state, keeping the state’s unique Labor Peace Act in place for at least one more year.
An additional deficiency in the Harwood grant program is its history of being inappropriately used to subsidize political allies of Democrats. For example, in 2016, labor unions received a nearly $2 million in grants, distributed nearly evenly with half in capacity building and training grants, which represents 21 percent of the grant funds.
Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today voiced its strong support for the Fair and Open Competition Act (S. 622). The bill, introduced by Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), will reduce costs for taxpayers by encouraging all qualified construction companies to compete for federal and federally funded construction projects. S. 622 prevents federal agencies and recipients of federal funding from requiring contractors to sign controversial project labor agreements (PLAs) as a condition of winning federal or federally assisted construction contracts.
In Delaware, Lon Sullivan, former Treasurer of American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) Local 644, was charged with one count of wire fraud in the amount of $8,647.
The group accused current SEIU Local 1021 leaders of cronyism, favoritism and hypocrisy for using “abusive” corporate policies in retaliating against staff members who criticized alleged discriminatory practices.

Aloise may be permanently expelled from the Teamsters for taking employer gifts, interfering in a local union election, and negotiating a sham contract for his employer friend.
