These talented young writers submitted one-page essays on why they support the right to work principle, which guarantees that no worker can be compelled to join or pay dues to a union as a condition of employment.

Here are the ten November 2023 winners, who each received a $100 check for their efforts (listed in no particular order):

October 2023 Right To Work Contest winners are Ramata T., Alexandra W., Micaela D., Elizabeth Z., Kate H., William R., Ashya H., Sophia L., Carter P., and Heidi B. 

Our winners attend the following schools: Faith Lutheran High School, Ross High School, Ronald Reagan High School, Juan Seguin High School, Slinger High School, Allendale High School, Muskego High, Old Mill High School, Manhattan Center for Science and Mathematics, and Hofstra University. 

Our winners live in the following areas: Las Vegas, Nevada; Hamilton, Ohio; San Antonio, Texas; Arlington, Texas; Slinger, Wisconsin; Allendale, Michigan; Muskego, Wisconsin; Glen Burnie, Maryland; New York, New York; and Uniondale, New York. 

The National Institute for Labor Relations Research (NILRR) is a non-profit research organization that promotes your individual workplace rights, freedom, and our national economic growth through our publications, events, and outreach programs. The contest was open to high school and college students across the nation, and we received many entries from passionate and articulate students who shared their personal stories and perspectives on this critical workplace freedom issue.  

We also extend a special thank you to our donors and our contest partners, the National Right to Work and the Leadership Institute, for their help in making this contest available to students across the country.

We congratulate these winners and thank all the participants for their excellent essays. We hope that this contest will inspire more students to learn about and advocate for the right to work principle, which is essential for a free and prosperous society.
