As of March 24, 2025, the latest batch of finalists has officially been submitted to the judges, who now face the challenge of selecting this year’s most outstanding candidates. This scholarship, awarded annually to student journalists who demonstrate a strong commitment to journalistic integrity and Right to Work principles, offers a $2,000 prize to support the next generation of fearless writers and thinkers.

The William B. Ruggles Journalism Scholarship was established to honor the legacy of William B. Ruggles, a respected Texas journalist who coined the term Right to Work.
