Tennessee helps lead resurgence in U.S. manufacturing jobs
Right to Work state Tennessee is a bright star in the economic recovery during the first quarter of 2013. G. Chambers Williams, III has the story in the tennessean.com.
Tennessee was among the leaders in U.S. manufacturing resurgence during the first quarter of 2013, with a nearly 5 percent gain in jobs over the same period last year, according to a report from IHS Global Insight.
It was the state’s best showing in four years, since manufacturing dipped to its lowest recession level in 2009.
“Manufacturing has traditionally been a strong point for Tennessee,” IHS said in its U.S. Regional Manufacturing Update for the first quarter. “Government incentives for manufacturers, right-to-work labor laws, and a growing supplier base attract manufacturers to the state.”
