UAW Sullies Nick Saban, Alabama and Auburn Reputations While Violating the Universities’ Trademarks

UAW produced an edited video that heavily implied they received an endorsement from former Alabama head coach Nick Saban. United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 112 bosses admitted to using the trademarks of both the University of Alabama and Auburn University to promote union activities. The UAW organizers produced merchandise with the universities’ logos prior to a certification vote in a plant near Tuscaloosa.

Both universities filed a cease and desist, which made it clear the union did not have their permission to use their logos.

"Not only were these comments taken entirely out of context, they were also being used without my knowledge or permission. I do not personally endorse the UAW or its campaign and have asked the UAW to remove any advertisements featuring me from circulation.”

UAW local 112 was ordered to notify all members of the union and public that they are not affiliated with the universities in any way.
